Recycling
At present about 12.5 million tons of plastics from fossil resources are employed in Germany per year. More than 30 % of the plastics are used for short-lived packaging products. As a result, these plastics are available as industrial or consumer waste to the secondary raw materials market only a few weeks or months after their production.
Over 50 % of the light packaging materials from the household collections consists of plastics. Today mixed plastics, especially film, increasingly gain in importance, whereas in the past primarily product groups like cups and bottles were sorted.
Within the scope of the so-called mechanical recycling of mixed plastics HAHN KUNSTSTOFFE GMBH manufactures a great variety of innovative products for the most diverse applications – an active contribution to the ecologically and economically sensible use of secondary plastics.
The Process Sequence of Mechanical Recycling
- After inspection in the context of our quality management the raw material is shredded and subjected to iron separation.
- Pieces of glass and wood, non-ferrous metals as well as thick-walled plastic pieces are separated during airstream sorting and mechanical treatment.
- After subsequent thermal desiccation and pelletizing agglomerates or pellets are produced.
- With the addition of colorants these are thermoplastically transformed into profiles, finished parts and system components by means of our manufacturing techniques.
